Is Thompson the next Reagan?
Actor, Senator and reluctant candidate Fred Thompson is the wild card for the Republicans. If he decides to run for president, he will undoubtedly tighten the race pulling votes from all contenders. A recent Time magazine article compares Thompson to Ronald Reagan but questions his desire for the most difficult job in the world. Thompson would be the first candidate since Reagan to bring sophisticated but down home appeal to the presidential race.

What's important to voters?
The new Washington Post-ABC News Poll reveals that Iraq is the #1 issue with both Democrats and Republicans. Economy/Jobs is second with both party voters. Not surprisingly Democratic voters selected health care as the third most important issue, which bodes well for Hillary in the primaries. For the Republicans, it is immigration which should make for an interesting June as the compromise immigration legislation gets debated by the House and Senate. Its no wonder few congressmen ever make it to the oval office.

Sen Obama to bring troops home
Sen Obama, campaigning in Nevada calls for Americans to convince their representatives to bring the troops home. He strongly believes that President Bush's new Iraq stratey won't work and makes the case that the effort in Iraq actually made al Qaida stronger. This will be the issue that decides the election.

Why is McCain support falling? He has been faithful to the party base, has reached across the aisle supporting the compromise immigration legislation and continues his straight talk that was so effective initially in 2000. It's early, but this is certainly a disturbing development for his campaign and supporters.
